Switzerland, Canada, and Italy. These are just a few of the places Chaz has traveled to, all thanks to football. Chaz’s football career started at the tender age of four, playing Little League Football in Texas City, Texas. Nine years of playing at the little league level was followed by four years of playing football for Texas City High School. After three years of playing on the Varsity team and upon graduating from high school, Chaz headed to Weed, California to play for the College of the Siskiyous Eagles.
While in Weed, Chaz played both years as the starting Wide Receiver who led the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. It was these skills as well as his receiving several awards, which included Athlete of the Year Award and Empire Conference MVP, that caught the eye of University of Louisville Cardinals.
Due to red shirting, Chaz played two out of his three years at University of Louisville. His Senior year, he was starting Safety who had seventy-four tackles and led the team with three interceptions and two forced fumbles, one of which was recovered. With a bachelor’s degree in Architecture in hand, Chaz decided to follow his passion and continue playing football.
Next stop, Baltimore, Maryland, playing for the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, due to agent issues, Chaz was never seen on the big screen, playing in the NFL. He did not let this one small bump in the road throw him off though. Instead, he took his skills overseas and played for the Basel Gladiators in Switzerland.
In his one and only year with the Gladiators, Chaz scored twenty touchdowns, had seven hundred rushing yards, and five hundred receiving yards. He also helped lead the team to the Swiss Bowl, where he scored three touchdowns. After Switzerland came Canada, playing for the Hamilton Tiger Cats in the CFL. Having an uneventful season in Canada, Chaz went back overseas, to play for the Bergamo Lions in Italy. In only six games, Chaz added twelve touchdowns and four interceptions to his football resume. It was here in Italy, that football came to a screeching halt for Chaz, as he broke his ankle during a game.
Surgery was required to fix Chaz’s ankle. A titanium rod and seven pins were installed, and he returned home to Texas City to heal. After hours of physical therapy, Chaz was ready to get back on the field, only now he would be on the sidelines as a coach.
His first coaching job took him to Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he was the Assistant Coach for Defensive Backs. After two years of coaching at the college level, Chaz decided that he wanted to give back to the community, so he packed his bags yet again, and returned home to Texas City.
Hard work and determination are no strangers to Chaz, and he wanted to help show the youth of his hometown that with determination and hard work, anything is possible. Thus, the birth of Beast Mode Training TNA. With the help of a longtime friend, Chaz organized camps which focused on speed and agility drills as well as football specific skills. Aside from the camps, Chaz trained approximately twenty-five individual youth athletes, preparing them for the sport(s) of their choice. He also took on the title of Head Coach for the Freshman Texas City Sting Rays. As a first-time Head Coach, Chaz led his team to the Super Bowl, but they were unable to secure the win. Fast forward to the next year, and it is a completely different story. With Chaz as the Head Coach and many of the players being returning players, the Sophomore Sting Rays finished the season undefeated and claimed the Championship.
As a trainer and coach who has an incredibly unique personality and way of coaching, Chaz decided to branch off from Beast Mode Training TNA and start his own training business under the name Champion Athletes Training. Maintaining the same mindset, he had while under Beast Mode Training, Chaz is influencing the youth of his community in ways that they never thought possible. On the field, he pushes children out of their comfort zones, which boosts their self-confidence. Off the field, Chaz makes sure that each child is excelling in school and at home.
Champion Athletes Training has only been in business since the beginning of 2016, but business has spread like wildfire and Chaz has no intentions of slowing down. Eventually, Chaz wants to turn Champion Athletes Training into an after-school program which caters to youth who are too old for the typical daycare but still too young to be home alone. The after-school program would provide transportation from school, tutoring, healthy meals / snacks, as well as sport specific training.
Not everyone is willing to put in the work that it takes to become a champion, but with the guidance and influence of Chaz and Champion Athletes Training, those who are determined and are willing to work hard, becoming a champion is within reach.
